Song: Outta Sight
Artist: The Riverdales
Album: The Riverdales

From the ashes of Screeching Weasel….  Short, uncomplicated, and sweet. Now here’s your brass tacks– a mere 65 seconds crammed with zip, “aww”, very simple but effective melody, very simple but effective drum fills at the end of each line on the bridge, and some good, fun handclaps. It’s gone before you know it, yet I think any more would be superfluous, even masturbatory. (Yeah, I just wanted to say that word.) Makes you wonder why some artists need so many minutes to get their point across. Efficient like a mutha.

This clip is from 1995 or so, though it looks like the 80s. God, I love old VHS clips like this. Too cool:

The group readily acknowledged their debt/homage to the The Ramones, who readily acknowledged the same for fun 50s and 60s pop. If you can’t tell by the sound, there’s also the harmless cream puff lyrics:

“Hey, hey, little girl it’d mean the world to me if you can make everything all right
Oooo little girl, you’re outta sight
Hey, hey little girl, I just can’t wait to see you tonight
Oooo little girl, you’re outta sight
Oooo little girl, you’re outta sight
I’ve been waiting so long
to see your happy face
How I’m feeling with you girl
is something I can’t erase
Hey, hey little girl, when you shake it around the feeling grooves so tight
Oooo little girl, you’re outta sight
Hey, hey little girl, when I watch you bop and fill me with such delight
Oooo little girl, you’re outta sight
Oooo little girl, you’re outta sight”
